Navigering – orientering i luften
Har du någon gång sprungit runt och orienterat och önskat att du kunde se terrängen precis som kartritaren avbildat den?
Den önskan besannades för oss när vi började med navigeringen i höstas. På höjder omkring 600m över marken susade vi runt och hittade rätt med hjälp av sjöar, samhällen, kyrkor och vägar. Trots att vi håller 600km/h glider marken förbi i ett rätt så makligt tempo då man flyger på den höjden. Men ju längre vi kom i utbildningen, desto lägre höjder gick vi på och desto svårare blev det.
Så i vintras genomförde vi ett lågnavigeringspass på höjder ända ner till 30m över den hårda marken – fortfarande färdandes en mil per minut. Med kartan högt, för att alltid kunna ha horisonten i blickfånget, behöver man hela tiden vara steget före i navigeringen. På den höjden har man inte alls samma överblick utan måste gå tillbaka till alltmer jordnära landmärken och vara betydligt mer på tårna för att hinna med.
Ett fantastiskt pass som med all önskvärd tydlighet visade oss spänningen, glädjen men också farorna med att flyga riktigt lågt.
Hursomhelst så gick vi alla runt med stora ögon och ett fånigt leende på läpparna efteråt. En av de allra roligaste sakerna med utbildningen är just det, att man hela tiden får uppleva och lära sig nya saker, utmana sig själv och flytta fram gränsen för vad man trodde man kunde prestera.
