SST – Sea Survival Training
För att kunna flyga på det sättet vi gör i Flygvapnet använder vi räddningssystem som gör att vi kan lämna flygplanet i luften. Detta sker med hjälp av raketstolar som alltid är
apterade när vi flyger. Om man behöver lämna flygplanet kan det vara bråttom och man kan inte alltid välja att skjuta ut sig så man landar på marken. För att vi ska överleva en utskjutning över hav genomgår man med vissa intervaller olika utbildningar och förra veckan var det dags för GFU 091 att genomföra en av dessa utbildningar – SST eller Sea Survival Training. Det går enkelt uttryckt till så att man åker till Försvarets Materielverks vågbassäng, även kallad äventyrsbadet, som finns inne på Malmen och genomför olika moment. Vågbassängen är en liten pool där instruktörerna kan skapa riktigt hårt väder med höga vågor, regn, blåst, ljud och totalt mörker. Väl där får man dra på sig flygutrustning och hoppa i. I normala fall ska våra flytvästar utlösas automatiskt, men efter devisen ”train hard, fight easy” så simulerar vi naturligtvis att flytvästen gått sönder och måste blåsas upp manuellt. Vattentrampandes i full flygutrustning med kängor och hjälm får man då försöka pilla fram flytvästens 2 lungor och mellan andetagen blåsa upp västen vilket gör en rejält andfådd. Efter detta var det dags för vågor, regn, blåst och mörker och försöka att dra andetagen vid rätt tillfälle, bäst funkar det att andas in i vågdalen och ut på toppen – jag tror samtliga fick åtminstone ett par kallsupar innan man lärde sig hur det ska gå till. När man precis vant sig vid detta fick vi ta oss in i livbåten som blåses upp när vi hamnat i vattnet, naturligtvis kan även detta moment göras komplicerat med väder samt en simulerad armskada som tvingade oss att endast använda en arm. Avslutningsvis fick vi även förmånen att vältas omkull i flotten av våra kamrater och genomgå en simulerad helikoptervinschning.
Sammanfattningsvis en rolig och lärorik förmiddag för GFU 091!
